I do a range of placemats and matching table runners using the most popular of the fabrics available. The placemats are about 35cm by 24cm, backed by a tough polycotton (black for most but other colours where suitable), and filled with a polyester needlepunch, denser and stiffer than the polyester used in other products like the oven mitts. The table runners are aproximately 34cm by 95cm, backed by a plain black cotton and filled with needlepunch. The sizes were chosen to fit without overlap on a standard 6-seater table.
